Mobile app check-in never works

I have never been able to check in online and I think part of the issue is American airline is shady they over sell seats and then want you to pay extra for seats or have to get to airport 30min earlier to wait in line and get a seat assigned. Its better to spend $50 more for a seat on another airline then deal with the extra wait time and frustration.
